PE Sprinkler Mains Pipe – Red Stripe

PE Sprinkler Mains Pipe – Red Stripe Products

Features and Benefits

  • High-impact strength

The high-impact strength of PE pipes ensures resistance to the rigours of pipe laying conditions.

  • Damage resistance

PE has low notch sensitivity, providing a high level of resistance to the effects of external damage, especially important for pipe bursting operations and where there is a likelihood of such damage.

  • Abrasion resistance

Vinidex PE pipes have excellent abrasion resistance providing long life in abrasive slurry applications. In most applications, PE outlasts other pipe materials such as mild steel and rubber lined steel.

  • Chemical resistance

Outstanding resistance to a wide range of chemical reagents allows the use of PE systems in applications such as tailings pipelines and chemical treatment applications used in mining operations.

  • Corrosion resistance

PE pipes are highly resistant to corrosion and do not require any protective coatings or other corrosion protection systems.

  • Weathering resistance

PE pipes are stabilised against ultraviolet (UV) light degradation by the inclusion of carbon black in the raw material. Black PE pipes are, therefore, suitable for installations where the pipes are exposed to direct sunlight.

  • Flexibility

PE pipes are flexible and can be curved during installation. This inherent resiliency and flexibility allows the pipe to handle stresses caused by soil movement. This makes the pipes particularly useful in submarine pipe lines, mine subsidence and earthquake prone areas.

  • Ease of installation

PE pipes are easy to install with their light weight and long lengths. Polyethylene coiled pipes are widely used in applications such as stock watering, irrigation systems, communications, gas and reticulated water mains.

  • High flow capacity

PE pipes have lower friction factors compared to non-plastic materials such as cementitious linings and fibre-reinforced cement. The surface energy characteristics of PE ensures resistance to material deposit build-up so that the smooth bore is maintained over the working life of the pipeline.

  • Co-extrusions

PE pipe is available in a range of identification colours that may be either co-extruded as stripes or “jackets” that completely surround the pipe. Blue is used for identification of water pipes, purple for recycled water pipes and yellow for gas. White jacket are used for minimisation of heat build-up in above ground pipes exposed to sunlight. White co-ex pipes are extensively used in the mining industry.

Green Star & Sustainability

Green Star Sustainability Credits may be earnt by using Vinidex Polyethylene (PE). For details contact your Vinidex representative.

Standards for Polyethylene Pipe
AS/NZS 4130 Polyethylene (PE) pipes for pressure applications.

Contact with drinking water

Vinidex PE pipes comply with the requirements of AS/NZS 4020 – Testing of products for use in contact with drinking water. This Standard specifies a series of type tests, which are carried out in order to demonstrate that the product does not have a detrimental effect on the quality of drinking water. It assesses the effect of the pipe on the taste, odour and appearance of water as well as the health aspects due to growth of microorganisms and leaching of toxic substances.
