Project background

Skyline is a 138-metre skyrise residential tower in Paramatta, New South Wales. Featuring 224 apartments, the 43-storey tower required a specialist draining solution capable of withstanding the requirements of a high-rise building.

The challenge

At 138 metres tall, the development posed a challenge for traditional full-vented modified stack systems. The system needed to be able to handle heavy waste loads at peak times without becoming too large. Maintaining plug velocity was also crucial, as minimal transitions in the stack could compromise the trap integrity and lead to hygiene and air-quality issues.

The solution

A custom-engineered Akatherm HDPE RVASS solution from Vinidex was chosen to overcome these challenges. A durable material with excellent temperature and chemical resistance, HDPE (high-density polyethylene) is more than equipped to withstand the demands of a tall structure.

Akatherm installers then acoustically lagged the HDPE to ensure the result satisfied the noise-reduction requirements of residential buildings.
