Fit-for-purpose dairy farm drainage

Project background

Farms located in high-rainfall areas of Victoria often encounter waterlogged pastures during winter and early spring. The owner of one such farm in Koroit – a dairy farm with a herd of over 200 cows – required a suitable surface and sub-surface drainage system that would prevent soil scouring and erosion.

The challenge

The primary challenge was to quickly remove on-farm wastewater using a resilient, easy-to-install product available from the farm’s local supplier. Two pipelines were needed to connect the dairy to the catchment ponds and provide reliable, efficient drainage.

The solution

Thanks to the product’s lightweight design, installing the two pipelines (400m and 500m in length) was quick and straightforward. StormPRO®’s advanced polypropylene material was also more than capable of enduring the demands of heavy traffic loads over gateways and tanker tracks.
