Project background
Gen Fyansford is a $300 million housing development located in Fyansford, Victoria. Once complete, it will include approximately 1,000 homes.
The challenge
The development required a stormwater pipe system to exceed the standards and performance requirements of Geelong City Council – while also being suitable for use under roads and behind pavements, both during construction and after the development was complete.
In addition, Geelong City Council required clear CCTV imagery of all stormwater lines prior to handover and final council approval.
The solution
Vinidex StormPRO® was specified for this project, as an agile product that performs strongly in both housing and under-road applications. The polypropylene piping system fits within the flexible pipe category and is designed to take on heavy traffic loads, including during construction.
As this project required deep stormwater mains, trench shields were also needed to protect pipe layers. Vinidex produced a custom 3-metre length of StormPRO® to ensure the pipe layers could operate safely within the trench.
The pipes’ dual-wall extrusion featured a white interior for clear camera imaging, while their corrugated exterior provided stabilised backfill and enhanced the pipe’s load rating. Using StormPRO® pipes provided notable OH&S benefits and reduced the risk of handling issues on site.
